Destiny Defined LLC was founded by Destini Gillian, a communication and leadership professional dedicated to empowering individuals and strengthening the systems that serve them.

Destini’s work is shaped by both lived experience and professional practice. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside individuals navigating complex systems, including behavioral health services, community organizations, and justice-involved settings. Through these experiences, she witnessed firsthand the disconnect that can sometimes exist between communities and the institutions designed to support them.

While many professionals genuinely want to help, they are not always equipped with the tools needed to communicate in ways that are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and empowering. At the same time, many individuals navigating these systems have strengths, leadership potential, and resilience that often go unrecognized.

These insights inspired Destini to create Destiny Defined LLC and develop the Destiny Defined Empowerment Framework™ (DDEF)—a strengths-based, trauma-informed communication and leadership model that utilizes evidenced based practices. This framework is designed to bridge the gap between individuals and the systems that serve them.

Destini holds a master’s degree in communication and leadership from Washburn University, where her graduate research focused on developing a culturally responsive and trauma-informed communication and leadership program for systemically underserved and justice-impacted populations. This work became the academic foundation for Destiny Defined’s programming.

Today, Destini leads trainings, workshops, and collaborative initiatives that support individuals in understanding their identity, building emotional intelligence, and communicating with confidence. Destini envisions a world where underserved communities are better able to advocate for themselves, and then also grow into leadership within their communities.

Destiny Defined LLC partners with organizations and providers to strengthen trauma-informed practices, cultural responsiveness, and strengths-based engagement.

Destini is also actively involved in community leadership and advocacy. She is a member of NAMI Topeka and the Kansas Black Leadership Council, where she continues to engage in conversations and initiatives focused on strengthening community wellbeing and leadership.
